A Riemann solver and upwind methods for a two-phase flow model in non-conservative form

چکیده
We present a theoretical solution for the Riemann problem for the five-equation two-phase non-conservative model of Saurel and Abgrall. This solution is then utilized in the construction of upwind non-conservative methods to solve the general initial-boundary value problem for the two-phase flow model in non-conservative form. The basic upwind scheme constructed is the non-conservative analogue of the Godunov first-order upwind method. Second-order methods in space and time are then constructed via the MUSCL and ADER approaches. The methods are systematically assessed via a series of test problems with theoretical solutions.

Central Upwind Scheme for a Compressible Two-Phase Flow Model
In this article, a compressible two-phase reduced five-equation flow model is numerically investigated. The model is non-conservative and the governing equations consist of two equations describing the conservation of mass, one for overall momentum and one for total energy. The fifth equation is the energy equation for one of the two phases and it includes source term on the right-hand side whi...
متن کاملA preconditioned solver for sharp resolution of multiphase flows at all Mach numbers
A preconditioned five-equation two-phase model coupled with an interface sharpening technique is introduced for simulation of a wide range of multiphase flows with both high and low Mach regimes. Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact (HLLC) Riemann solver is implemented for solving the discretized equations while tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) interface sharpening method is applied ...
متن کاملThe Riemann problem and a high-resolution Godunov method for a model of compressible two-phase flow
This paper considers the Riemann problem and an associated Godunov method for a model of compressible two-phase flow. The model is a reduced form of the wellknown Baer-Nunziato model which describes the behavior of granular explosives. In the analysis presented here, we focus on the effect of non-conservative nozzling terms in the two-phase model and omit source terms representing the exchange ...
متن کاملHLLC-type Riemann solver with approximated two-phase contact for the computation of the Baer-Nunziato two-fluid model
The computation of compressible two-phase flows with the Baer-Nunziato model is addressed. Only the convective part of the model that exhibits non-conservative products is considered and the source terms of the model that represent the exchange between phases are neglected. Based on the solver proposed by Tokareva & Toro [42], a new HLLC-type Riemann solver is built. The key idea of this new so...
متن کاملA Higher-order Upwind Method for Viscoelastic Flow
A conservative finite difference method designed to capture elastic wave propagation in viscoelastic fluids in two space dimensions is presented. The governing equations are the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations coupled to the Oldroyd-B constitutive equations for viscoelastic stress. The equations are cast into a hybrid conservation form to make use of a second-order upwind method to treat...
